Many website owners have developed their websites over Wix. Most of these websites owners chose Wix as it provided a lot of benefits such as an extensive theme library, drag and drop option while editing pages and great extra features which made Wix the first choice. Due to these benefits most people overlooked the fact that Wix did not provide a self-host option and people had to host their websites with them.
The only caveat with this approach is that websites based on Wix tend to rank slower on Google Pagespeed due to their usage of an enormous amount of JavaScript code as well as unoptimized images being used on the website. This has become a big tradeoff and most website owners have started to move away from Wix to other options.
I mostly advise potential customers to migrate their website to WordPress using the self-host option and take advantage of the large pool of WordPress plugins and themes repository and the ease of use of content management.
